Drumstick flower egg stir fry

Moringa tree right from roots, leaves, flowers and fruits has been used for generations and considered to have numerous health benefits. Moringa flower is very soft and tender in nature. It has to be washed properly before cooking to get rid of insects if any. We can try different recipes with moringa flower right from soup, sambhar, thoran / poriyal and kootu. Moringa flower tastes really good and has a unique taste. Moringa or drumstick flower cooks very fast and don’t overcook to retain the nutrition.

1. Drumstick flower / Murungai Poo – 2 cups

2. Country egg – 3 nos

3. Oil – 2 tbsp

4. Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp

5. Bengal gram – 1 tsp

6. Urad dhal – 1 tsp

7. Big onion – 1 no finely chopped

8. Green chillies – 2 nos

9. freshly ground black pepper – 1/2 tsp

10. Curry leaves – as required

11. Salt – as required


1. Take your Cast Iron frying pan and add gingelly oil, ready to cook.

2. Add mustard seeds, Bengal gram, Urad dhal, green chillies, big onion and sauté until it becomes golden brown. Add salt as required.

3. Add moringa flowers to it and sauté.

4. Add country eggs to moringa leaves and sauté well.

5. In the end, add curry leaves and freshly ground black peppers for seasoning.
