Red Rice Sweet Paniyaram

Red Rice is one of the healthiest traditional unpolished rice varieties. Red rice is rich in fibre and loaded with antioxidants, Vitamins, iron and other nutrients. We can replace our polished white rice with red rice to prepare idly, dosa, puttu, idiappam, paniyaram, pulav, briyani etc. It just needs extra soaking and cooking time. Also, it has amazing rich taste and gives beautiful red colour to the dish.

  • 1. Red Rice Batter - 1 cup (unsalted)
  • 2. Ripe Banana - 1
  • 3. Powdered Jaggery - 4 tbsp or more as per taste
  • 4. Cardamom Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • 5. Grated Coconut - 1 cup
  • 6. Ghee for frying


  • 1. To make the paniyaram batter, combine the sigappu arisi paniyaram maavu, jaggery, grated coconut and cardamom, mix well altogether in a bowl
  • 2. To make the paniyaram, heat the oil in a paniyaram pan.
  • 3. Spoon the required paniyaram batter and cook over medium flame.
  • 4. When the side turns golden brown color, turn and cook till done.
  • 5. Take out the paniyaram, place them on the tissue to absorb excess oil and ready to serve.
